Thomas Blackwell started out as an abstract-expressionist but soon became enamored with the Pop Art movement of the 1960's. In that vein, he produced a significant body of work; large-scale paintings that incorporated shiny metallic objects commonly found on motorcycles and other vehicles, including airplanes. Thomas Blackwell started out as an abstract-expressionist but soon became enamored with the Pop Art movement of the 1960's. In that vein, he produced a significant body of work; large-scale paintings that incorporated shiny metallic objects commonly found on motorcycles and other vehicles, including airplanes. His later and current works continue this (at times using mannequins) but with scenes incorporating the light reflecting from store windows.
