Born in 1954 in an artistic family in Shanghai, Wilfred, aka Wilfred Lang, started to paint at the age of seven. After learning Chinese painting from his father, he attended the Shanghai Art School for five years (1971-1976). During this period he went to China's Five Great Mountains in order to develop his drawing skills for natural scenes. In 1977 he immigrated to Hawaii. After learning Chinese painting from his father, he attended the Shanghai Art School for five years (1971-1976). During this period he went to China's Five Great Mountains in order to develop his drawing skills for natural scenes. In 1977 he immigrated to Hawaii. There he was inspired to do his modern abstract work. In 1981 he went to Europe where he lived for two years. He has earned several awards in art competitions in Europe and Asia.
