Yvonne Kleiss-Herzig, a French artist from Algeria of Swiss-Alsatian origin, was known for her unique blend of decorative style and ethnological rigor in her depictions of daily life in Kabylia and the Tlemcen region. She trained at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Algiers and later in Paris under Jean-Paul Laurens.
