    Auguste-Émile Pinchart or Émile-Auguste Pinchart, born August 10, 1842 in Cambrai and died in November 1920 in Tunis, was a French painter and designer, specializing in genre scenes and Orientalism*.

    Pinchart became a student in the Parisian workshop of Jean-Léon Gérôme in the middle of the Second Empire, then began to be under contract with Goupil & Cie, producing drawings intended for the print market. His subjects met with success with the public: these were genre scenes inspired by everyday life in the 18th century, then very fashionable.
