    Abdelaziz Gorgi, born in 1928, is a painter rooted in Tunisia whose work demonstrates a strong attachment to his country. He is one of the founders of the School of Tunis, with Ammar Farhat, Moses Levy, Yahia Turki, Jellal Ben Abdallah, Ali Bellagha, Hedi Turki, and undoubtedly the leader from 1961. Trained at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis - newly created - between 1944 and 1949, he continued his artistic career at the School of Paris for a few years.

    In 1956, he designed the first Tunisian postage stamp. From 1959, he taught drawing, ceramics and painting at the Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis, which he chaired until 1983. His renown was international, he exhibited in Chicago and New York, wo...
