    Adolf Henning was born in Berlin in 1809 as son of the court conductor Karl Wilhelm Henning.  He studied at the Berlin academy until 1823 and was appointed professor there in 1839.  He mainly painted figures and portraits, and thus created medallions with mythological scenes for the Niobidensaal of the Neues Museum in Berlin. Because of his great talent, Henning was already twelve years old when he was able to develop an artistic career. Henning attended from 1821-24 the academy in Berlin; and from 1824-33 ibid. Stud. At the painting and drawing school of Wilhelm Wach, where he initially turned to history painting.
