    Adolf Gustav Schweitzer was born in 1847 in Dessau. He was a German landscape painter. From 1867 he studied at the Academy in Düsseldorf under Oswald Achenbach. In the years 1870-1871 he took part in the Franco-Prussian war, which was temporarily reflected in his works. Later, he took up mainly landscape painting. Adolf Gustav Schweitzer made many study trips around Germany and was also in Brussels and Paris. He constantly lived in Düsseldorf, where he continued his education with Eugen Dücker. He was particularly keen on painting romantic winter and autumn landscapes. He traveled to Norway many times, painting views over the fjords.
