About Adolf Stademann

  • Biography

Adolf Stademann (1824 Munich, Germany - 1895 Munich, Germany)
Trained as a landscape painter by Carl August Lebschée and Moritz Lotze, Adolf Stademann turned his artistic attention to depictions of winter, influenced by 17th century Dutch landscape painting. His early works were also significantly influenced by Eduard Schleich the Elder's night paintings. The precise observation of nature and his handling of light and color were consistent with prevailing tastes of the time.

In addition to landscapes, Stademann executed several night pieces. Influenced by the Dutch landscape painting of the 17th century, he later focused on winter landscapes with figure staffages, and impressionistic moonlight scenes. Works by the artist areAuctionata Auction House
