They cut figures in uniforms from catalogues and magazines and pasted them on white card board in various combinations with similar figures of papas and mamas and babies whose hearts were plainly set on hearing the concert. There were Mutt and Jeff, the Duffs, Father, the ‘Smatter Pop Kids,’ and all the other celebrities of the newspaper world – all on their ways to the concert and proud to pay their fifteen cents like others, regardless of the number of passes distributed among the members of the staff.
