Agusti Puig was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1957. Puig learned a great deal of his craft working in different artists' studios as a young art student at Escola Massana and Cercle Artistic Sant Lluc in Barcelona.

Whilst his first solo exhibitions were in Barcelona and other Spanish cities, he was soon to break through onto the international exhibition circuit with shows in Lisbon, London, Paris, Germany, Japan and the United States.

Puig's large-scale canvasses are monumental in size and impact. The works are layered with thick pools of paint and impasto, which flow smoothly across the canvas. The artist also works with ceramics and sculptures.
