Kerkovius was a former student of Adolf Hölzel , who, as early as 1912, simultaneously with and independently of Kandinsky , began to move away from representational painting towards abstraction, a development that also fascinated Haberer and shaped his entire oeuvre. Hölzel and Kerkovius were among the artists persecuted by the National Socialists. When Kerkovius's studio was completely destroyed in 1944, she found refuge in the Stuttgart apartment by then...
