    Albert Joseph Franke (1860 - 1924) was born in Breslau (now Wroclaw, Poland) and lived in Munich. He studied at the Breslau Academy before studying at the Munich Academy between 1880 and1890 under Otto Seitz, Alois Gabl and Wilhelm von Lindenschmitt, Jr.

    As part of his studies, he traveled widely in North Africa between 1885-1887. He painted several variations of Oriental scenes as well as Rocco interiors and exhibited at the Munich Glass Palace; he was also a member of the Munich Artists’ Cooperative.
