  • Biography

    He made his name initially as an art jeweler in New York City and in 1969 moved to Rochester, New York to teach at the Rochester Institute. With the recognition he earned from his "Portal Gates" at the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery, he switched permanently to metal sculpture and decorative arts.

    He and his wife live in a three-story carriage house on part of an estate of a Western Union founder. They bought the place in 1980 in Rochester when most of their friends were living in lofts in New York City....
