Amron Omar worked briefly for an advertising company in 1983 after graduating from the Mara Institute of Technology. In 1982, he won the Minor Award in the coveted Young Contemporary Artists (BMS) exhibition with a self-portrait. Some 150 selected works from his copious Pertarungan Series over three decades were shown in his major solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery Malaysia in 2012. Amron had done several portrait commissions including for the Sultan of Brunei.
