Evolution is a word that can best describe the current state of Andres Barrioquinto's art practice. Whereas early in his career Barrioquinto intentionally shied away from Realism, he has now embraced it, in an attempt to stand apart from his contemporaries. His output, he also says, is
now more personal.

Barrioquinto was born in Manila but his family kept on switching residencies due to the nature of his father's job, which was writing and editing. He spent his teenage years in Hong Kong, studying at Royden House School. Then he went back to Manila to get his college education.
