    Ángel Acosta León was a prominent Cuban artist, belonging to the New Figuration movement, or better known as "Around the figurative world"; Artists such as Antonia Eiriz, Raúl Martínez, Servando Cabrera and Umberto Peña were part of this group, which was identified as bringing new conceptions of socialism that governed Cuba to painting.

    He was an artist who expressed that difficult transition from capitalism to socialism, his precarious life, largely a product of the social environment prior to 1959. In 1961 some historical facts of the Cuban Revolution passed to his painting, introducing the "ships" and the " structures. "
