    AIRY, Anna (Mrs Anna Pocock) 1882-1964

    Born in London on 6 June 1882, Anna Airy was the only daughter of Wilfred Airy (1836-1925), civil engineer, and his wife Anna, who died in childbirth. This mother was the daughter of Professor Listing of Gottingenson, and grand-daughter of Sir George Biddell Airy, astronomer royal, of Playford Hall, Suffolk.

    Anna Airy was educated at Slade School of Art 1899-1903. In 1907, she was elected a member of the Pastel Society, and in 1908, was elected an associate member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers, in 1913 a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and in 1918 a member of th...
