    Anna Palm had strong artistic talent; she was the daughter of the well-known landscape painter Gustaf Wilhelm Palm and her mother, Eva Sandberg, was the daughter of the professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Johan Gustaf Sandberg.

    Anna Palm first studied for her father, but later took lessons from the history painter Edvard Perséus and from the landscape painter Per Daniel Holm. The latter was particularly prominent as a watercolorist and Anna Palm increasingly switched to painting in watercolor.

    In 1889, Anna Palm became the first female teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in watercolor painting. During the 1890s, she was one of Sweden's most sought-after artists.
