    Commander C. Anthony Law Litt.D., DSC, RCN (1916 – 1996)

    A career naval officer and prominent Canadian painter, Commander C. Anthony Law (aka: Charles Anthony Francis Law; aka: Tony Law) was born in London, England, while his Canadian parents were stationed there during World War I. He died in Halifax, Nova Scotia, his home since the 1950s.

    In addition to having combat commands during World War II Law, uniquely, was also commissioned as an Official War Artist. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions in combat during the Normandy invasion and won two Jessie Dow Prizes* for his paintings shown at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
