Anton Lehmden was born in Neutra in 1929. Anton Lehmden perfected his technique of the Old Masters, in an intense study of Brueghel and Altdorfer. His enthusiasm for Chinese landscape painting had him put in its beginnings the lyrical moment in the center of his painting. But soon his landscapes changed. They were not "idyllic", but broken up and sinking - and robbed people any refuge. The horrors of war and natural disasters were swept to the focus of his work for decades, and in countless recurring variations he worked off of apocalyptic visions.
