    Antón Patiño (Lugo, Spain, 1957) is a painter who worked actively on the renewal of Spanish art of the eighties, mainly through the foundation of 'Atlántica', an art movement created with the aim of placing the Galician art in the international scene.

    His work is based on an abstraction full of antagonisms and contradictory energies, joining together the power of gesture and symbolism. His painting, described by the American critic Donald Kuspit as "conceptual expressionist", is characterized by the intensity of colours that are strictly committed to memory. He has carried out solo exhibitions all around the world, for instance in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Bordeaux, Hamburg, Madrid, New York, Paris, Stockholm or Zurich.
