After her marriage to the philologist, Richard Christensen, in 1871 she is known as Anthonore Christensen. She went on several study tours to Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Paris and Greece, and she, herself, later taught members of the Danish and Greek royal family the art of painting. Anthonore Christensen's motifs of forest beds and wild flowers growing in a field are often characterized by a natural, less artificial expression than the opulent bouquets and the decorative cut flowers displays on stone sills, we see in works by earlier floral painters.
