    Born in Amsterdam September 18 1929.

    Studied History of Art at the University of Amsterdam 1950.

    First solo exhibition Galerie le Canard, Amsterdam 1954.

    Influenced by Dubuffet and Jean Fautrier, producing thick impasto paintings. Founder member of the Nederlandse Informele Groep with other Dutch painters Kees van Bohemen, Jan Henderikse, Henk Peeters, Jan Schoonhoven and others, 1957.

    By 1959 joined Situationist International and wrote "First proclamation of the Dutch Section of the SI"

    Lives partly in Amsterdam and partly in Berlin.
