Schatz attended high-school in Pommer followed by studies in Dusseldorf, Munich and Paris. While in Munich he had his first contacts with the Doerner Institute and learned new painting techniques. The acquisition of old master techniques into modern design language remained a major issue, even in the years of professional practice.
