    Arthur Hopkins was a London-born landscape and genre painter in water-colour and oil, and also an illustrator. Born in 1848, he entered the Royal Academy of Arts School* in London 1872, and exhibited at the leading London galleries, including the Royal Society of Painters in Water-colours* and the Royal Academy.

    He was then elected a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Water-colours in 1896. He painted several sporting subjects including Henley Royal Regatta (1891) and a portrait of H.F. Lawford and W. Renshaw playing golf.
