Biography
He received the first tips and teachings of the artistic workshop from his father, also a painter, who gave him appropriate patterns and encouraged him to take up specific topics. He began his education with Julian Maszkowski in Lviv in 1849. In 1850 he met Julius Kossak, who gave him private consultations. Then in the years 1852–54 under the direction of W. Stattler and W. Luszczkiewicz was educated at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow and later also at the academy in Vienna 1855–63 at K. Wurzinger, P.J.N. Geiger, K. Mayera, K. Blaas and C. Ruben. In Vienna he lived until 1865, from where he went to Poland, Hungary, Munich and Venice. In the country he returned for a year, he was in Krakow, Lviv and went to Paris. A severely i...
