    The German painter August-Wilhelm Dressler was a representative of the New Objectivity. In 1913 he completed his studies at the academies in Dresden and Leipzig. After his studies he joined the November Group in Berlin. In 1924 Dressler became a member of the Berlin Secession.

    August-Wilhelm Dressler exhibited widely in Germany and internationally, where he was awarded various prizes. In 1938 the Nazi Regime identified Dressler's artworks to be "degenerate art" and he was forbidden to continue his teaching at the state school in Berlin.
