Auguste Louis Veillon was born in 1834 and died in 1890. Veillon should pursue a religious career and therefore first studied theology at the College of Lausanne according to the will of his parents. In 1857 he decided to become a painter and entered into Geneva from the studio of François Diday. Self-taught embossed study trips to Paris, where he met the famous Orientalist Eugène Fromentin, as well as to London and Rome rounded out his education.
Later many stays followed in the Arab world. Veillons specialty was the one hand, Swiss Zealand properties, on the other hand oriental landscapes with its narrower interest was always thought to atmospheric phenomena, as well as the light and the mood of different times of day. In order to achieve a high degree of mood values, he often exaggerated his motives for heroic ideal landscapes. In offered work Auguste Veillon held the impressive view of Lake Geneva fixed to the over 3,000 meter high Dents-du-Midi.
This view of a body of water with towering mountains used the outdoor painters not only in his Lake Geneva compositions, but also in work on Lake Lucerne and Brienz, thus is identifiable in the works of the Genevan a thematic and compositional series before changing geographic background. Veillon turned its attention mainly on the lighting, which is manifested by a highly differentiated color choice in the present illustration. The lake and the mostly lying still in the shadow of mountains are reproduced in diverse blue and violet tones and lift chosen by the Uferpartie with the three fishermen, as well as some mountain peaks from which have already been submerged by the rising sun in warm light.
