    Bartolome Montalvo was a Spanish painter who studied under Zacarías González Velázquez and in Italy. He completed his formation at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, becoming an academician of merit in 1814. Montalvo specialized in landscape painting and still lifes, exhibiting works at the Academy since 1793. He was appointed chamber painter to Ferdinand VII in 1815, which provided him with economic stability. Known for his use of color and light in his still lifes, Montalvo's works included landscapes, still lifes of hunting, and marine paintings.
