    Paul Johann Berthold Wilhelm Förster was born in 1851 in Westerau in Holstein. Forster was a landscape painter and writer, who first taught and worked as a merchant in Lübeck. He studied from 1875 to 1877 at the Munich academy, and then from 1877 to 1884 studied at the Academy of Weimar. At Weimar he was a master student of Theodor von Hagen.

    In 1884 Forster moved to Dresden, and went on study trips to Switzerland and to Russia. In 1883 he was charged with various exhibitions. From 1896 to 1917 he served as secretary (General Counsel) and professor at the Weimar Academy. In 1919 he was an associate professor of perspective drawing on the Grand Ducal Saxon Academy of Fine Arts in Weimar, honoring source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Matriculation Book of the Munich Academy, Dressler, Bénézit and Internet. ...
