    The Czech artist Bohumír Dvorsky first completed an apprenticeship as a bookbinder, before he decided to study at the Academy of Art in Prague in 1924. He attended the class of the landscape painter Otakar Nejedlý, but additionally traveled to Italy, Corsica and France, where he was deeply impressed by Paul Cézanne's works.

    Dvorský was established among the contemporary art scene and even exhibited abroad; in 1940, for instance, he was included at the Venice Biennale, followed by exhibitions in Rio de Janeiro, Helsinki and Stockholm. In 1971 he was awarded the title of ‘National Artist’ in the Czech Republic. (cbo)
