Born in Lima, Peru, Boris Vallejo is a painter of fantasy and erotica illustrations who immigrated to America in 1964, after attending the National School of Fine Arts in Peru. His illustration commissions include work for science fiction/fantasy publishing houses, album covers, calendars, motion picture advertising and video box art.

Frequent subjects of his work are "gods, monsters, and well-muscled male or female barbarians engaged in battle." (wikipedia) In 1994, he married illustrator Julie Bell, whose style is similar to his, and they live and work together in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She sometimes serves as his model for his female characters.
