Boris Viskin was born in 1960, and spent his childhood in Mexico City. His youth was spent in Israel. The artist later lived in Florence for three years, where his artistic career began.

In 1985, he returned to Mexico City and participated in Academia de San Carlos' workshops. The transitions in cultures, languages, and scenery impregnate his work.

In his work, there is a presence of constant allusions to masterpieces and artists (painters, writers, musicians and cinematographers) used for various strategies and purposes: quotes, paraphrases and visual interpretations, all of which confer a new meaning to the particular element used.
