    The focus of Kowanz's work is the investigation of space and light. In the course of the collaboration with Franz Graf, pictures with phosphorescent and fluorescent pigments were created.

    From 1984 Brigitte Kowanz developed her first light objects made of bottles, fluorescent lamps and fluorescent paint. Complex spatial images and light-shadow projections were created with simple means. For Kowanz, however, light was not only the material, but often also the subject of her works. There is a separate body of work that deals with the speed of light.
