    Carl Hans Schrader was a German painter and commercial artist born in 1878 in Hanover. He was initially a student at the Hanover School of Applied Arts and later a student at the Munich painting school of Anton Azbe. He studied from 1897 at the Munich Academy under Paul Hoecker and Ludwig von Herterich. In 1911 he became a member of the Munich Secession, of which he was part of the exhibition jury. From 1927 professor he maintained a private painting school in Munich and visited the Haimhausen artists' colony with his students in the summer.
