In Paris, Johansson met the Finnish-Swedish painter Richard Hall (1860-1943), who painted his portrait. Hall was a resident of Le Pouldu in Brittany, where he and his Swiss wife kept a small artist's pension, Villa Saint Julien. Artist Carl Johansson was born in 1863.
Johansson lived in France for about a year from the spring of 1891 to the spring of 1892. In Paris he came in contact with the French Impressionists - in particular Claude Monet and Camille Pissaro.
Under his impression, his palette became more bright. In Paris, Johansson met the Finnish-Swedish painter Richard Hall (1860-1943), who painted his portrait. Hall was a resident of Le Pouldu in Brittany, where he and his Swiss wife kept a small artist's pension, Villa Saint Julien.
At the invitation of Hall, Johansson traveled to Brittany where he stayed for six months. From there he left for Montigny in January 1892, which he left in April to travel back to Sweden.
Johansson completed his studies at the Art Academy in 1885 and participated in the Opponent Exhibition the same year. In 1890 he was a member of the Swedish Artists' Association which he belonged to until his death in 1944.
At their invitation, in 1941, a retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Konstnärshuset in Stockholm with the foreword by Otto G. Carlsund.
