In Paris he came in contact with the French Impressionists - in particular Claude Monet and Camille Pissaro. Under his impression, his palette became more bright. In Paris, Johansson met the Finnish-Swedish painter Richard Hall (1860-1943), who painted his portrait. Hall was a resident of Le Pouldu in Brittany, where he and his Swiss wife kept a small artist's pension, Villa Saint Julien. At the invitation of Hall, Johansson traveled to Brittany where he stayed for six months. From there he left for Montigny in January 1892, which he left in April to travel back to Sweden.
