    Artist Carl Johansson was born in 1863.


    Johansson lived in France for about a year from the spring of 1891 to the spring of 1892. In Paris he came in contact with the French Impressionists - in particular Claude Monet and Camille Pissaro.


    Under his impression, his palette became more bright. In Paris, Johansson met the Finnish-Swedish painter Richard Hall (1860-1943), who painted his portrait. Hall was a resident of Le Pouldu in Brittany, where he and his Swiss wife kept a small artist's pension, Villa Saint Julien.
