Artists associated with this circle paid special attention to the picturesque values of the surrounding nature. The same happens in the presented composition by Thom. The vast view of the lake located among the mountains exudes mood. The painter used the aerial perspective in it, which allowed him to create a mystical landscape covered with a veil of fog. Snow-capped, rocky slopes that slope steeply down definitely stand out from the pale blue surface of the water. This vast, overwhelming space is traversed alone by a wanderer sitting on a small, floating surface of the tank.
