    Carl Buchheister was born in 1890 in Hannover and died in 1964 in Hannover. He studied at the Berlin Museum of Applied Arts and settled as a freelance artist in Hannover. In 1927, he co-founded the artist association 'Die Abstrakten Hannover' with Kurt Schwitters. He was also a member of the Parisian group 'Abstraction-Création.'

    After 1945, Buchheister lived and worked in seclusion, and from 1958, he spent half of the year in France.

    His works are part of international collections.
