Unlike other Swedish artists who traveled to Paris, Grez and the Atlantic coast at this time, Trägårdh did not return to Sweden, but continued to portray the French landscape until his death in Paris in 1899. Unlike other Swedish artists who traveled to Paris, Grez and the Atlantic coast at this time, Trägårdh did not return to Sweden, but continued to portray the French landscape until his death in Paris in 1899. Trägårdh's importance as painter was discovered for a wider audience only in 1925 in connection with the memorial exhibition at the Swedish-French Art Gallery in Stockholm. A large part of his production had been acquired by the French opera singer J. B.
