    Carl von Hanno is today mostly known for having painted the image Unemployed (1933-34), which has stood as a symbol of contemporary art in the middle of the war. While creating a gloomy picture of social inequalities, von Hanno points out with an aesthetically beautiful workmanship; The combination of cubism and fashion artist makes him unique in Norwegian art history.

    Von Hanno grew up in a bourgeois family with versatile art interests and was already registered as a 13-year-old at the Norwegian School of Crafts and Art Industry School (SHKS) evening school.
