    Cecco di Pietro was one of the most famous artists of the trecento in Pisa. Several sources from various times mention his work in this city, and thus it is assumed that he rarely left. However, his works show stylistic parallels to the painting of Siena.

    Cecco's seminal work is the polyptych of Agnano, a signed work dated 1386. As noted by Laura Cavazzini (op.cit.), the work "The Baptism of Christ" shows the most similarity with another work by this artist, namely a predella panel with the Crucifixion dated circa 1386/95 and kept in the Museo Nazionale San Matteo in Pisa.
