    Cesar Carl Robert Andreas Klein (1876 Hamburg - 1954 Lübeck)
    After a painting apprenticeship César Klein attended the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg in 1894, and later the Dusseldorf Academy as well as the school of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin. In the capital, he was able to establish himself with his designs for book illustrations, stained glass windows and wall paintings and in 1910 was a co-founder of the New Secession. Initially influenced by Impressionism he adopted a more expressionist manner from 1913 onwards and soon became one of the most famous German expressionists.
