    Charles Mozley was born in 1914. He studied art at Sheffield and the Royal College of Art, London.

    During World War II he was in a camouflage unit with Edward Seago, but was moved to military intelligence in 1942. He produced posters for Shell, Ealing films, and a large mural of Florence Nightingale for the Health section of the 1951 Festival of Britain.

    He worked principally in oils and watercolours, although he is perhaps better known for his illustrations and book covers.
