Lu was born in China in 1958, and graduated from Department of Art, Hebei Normoal University in China. He is currently teaching in Institute of Craft and Arts, Heibei University. In the early 80s, his topics are mainly about rural area of China, which is decorative and festive; in the 90s, he turned to more rational topics: empty lands, empty shell, and the headless figures, which had become one of his signature languages and symbols. After 1997, his style changed again to be more relax and romantic which seems to be a rebel towards rationality.
