Lo Ch'ing is a contemporary Chinese painter, calligrapher, and poet. His parents relocated from China to Taiwan in 1949, where he spent his formative years. During his early years, he received classical ink painting training from Pu Ru, an expert in the court tradition of ink painting and a member of the Qing Imperial family.

Lo later pursued his academic studies at Fu Jen University, majoring in English. He went on to earn a Master's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1974.
