    Christian Skredsvig was born in Modum, Buskerud, Norway in 1854. He painted near the idyllic village of Grez-sur-Loing in 1885. Hit by Fontainebleauskogen ca. 6 mil south-east of Paris, erected a large number of Nordic, English and American painters, writers and musicians in the early 1880s. During the day, worked the painters of landscape motifs, painted the local people in genre scenes, portrayed each other, or set up easels to paint the river Loing. In the evening they met for meals and parties, discussions and masquerades. In this crowd of happy colleagues were such Krøyer, Karin and Carl Larsson, Bruno Liljefors, Strindberg, Frederik Collett, Christian Krogh as well as Maggie and Christian Skredsvig.
