Huo Chunyang was born in China in 1946. Chunyang is a noted calligrapher and painter who was born in Qingwan of Hebei province. After he graduated from the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1969, he spent his career there holding a variety of posts, including director and professor. Currently, he is the curator of the Gallery of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, professor, academic adviser, Vice-president of Tianjin Artists Association, and council member of China Association for Promotion of Culture.
