It is probable that this spot identifies a small village near the wooded area around Oosterbeek, an enclave that the Dutch painter Claas Hendrik Meiners painted on several occasions. Charming houses with moss-covered gabled roofs are sheltered by the leafy trees bordering a peaceful lake.

The painter Claas Hendrik Meiners belongs to the Oosterbeek School. Trained in BC Koekkoek, he travelled regularly to the south of Veluwezoom from 1853 onwards.
