    Clara Arnheim (1865 - 1942)

    A German artist best known for her pastoral landscapes, portraits, and farm scenes. She is considered a founder of the Federal Hiddenseer school of artists which was formed in Germany around 1922. Arnheim (Arnhem) spent many of her summers painting in Schwartz, Germany.

    She also experimented with printmaking including techniques such as etching. She is regarded for her paintings in oil and watercolor. Many of her subjects captured the islands, fishermen, landscapes, and inhabitants around Hiddensee, Germany. She used pastel colors and loose, soft brushstrokes.
